Given the number of organs found in Paris, it is hardly surprising that the number of organ builders who have worked and continue to work there is also considerable. Some, such as Clicquot or Cavaillé-Coll, enjoy widespread recognition, and a great deal of information about them is readily available. Others are less well known—or not known at all—and in some cases little or no information can be found about them. Even today, there are still organ builders without a website, and for whom no information is accessible through other channels either. Nevertheless, in most cases it has been possible to find at least some information about the 161 organ builders we could identify. On these pages, we share this information and hope to expand it further in the future wherever necessary and possible.
